I thought he died from heart failure due to obesity.

I saw this painting in downtown Detroit last year!
I just stood there in front of it with tears welling up in my eyes thinking about all the bad things that have happened in my life and when I would pray and pray and nothing would get better as a child. I’m not religious at all anymore. It is actually kind of small but it is very powerful to see in person, the larger art around it was eclipsed. I didn’t know who the artist was until I saw the name on a comment board. It is a painting of sadness.Don’t judge it until you have the courage to see it in person, you might change your mind!

THIS IS SO OFFENSIVE . I AM AMAZED THAT A GOD THAT CAME TO THIS EARTH TO SAVE US FROM OUR SINS AND LOVED US SO MUCH WOULD BE VIEWED IN THIS WAY BY ANYONE. I FEAR THE VERY MOCKERY OF GOD IN THIS PAINTING . EVIL !! I KNOW HE DIDN’T DIE OF AIDS . THIS WORLD IS MESSED UP YET HE STILL ALLOWS THIS TO GO ON. HE MUST BE VERY LOVING AND LONGSUFFERING .

Christianity is not just False it is also Immoral
Christianity embodies the notions of Paul, whose New Testament letters were written between 55 and 60 C.E. before any of the four gospels.
Paul was a Jew, brainwashed with the religion of the Jews, and therefore he believed in the tale of Adam and Eve. He accepted that sin was hereditary and he accepted the immoral and primitive doctrine that guilt for wrongdoing can be off-loaded on to an innocent scapegoat. This usually involved the shedding of blood (often human) as atonement required to appease the ‘gods’.
Though an innocent person may, and often does, pay the penalty, this immoral doctrine, which claims to absolve the wrongdoer from personal responsibility, results in the ongoing sequence of crime, confession, absolution and its repetition ad infinitum. Responsibility for wrongdoing must remain forever with the person who committed the offence. Anything that seeks to sidestep this basic principle inflicts grievous harm on society.
After being struck by lightning, Paul conceived the idea that one of the hundreds of Jewish rebels crucified by Rome was the son of Yahweh who made the ultimate sacrifice of blood to appease the Jewish elohim (deity).
Christianity was formalized by the murderer Constantine at Nicaea in 325 C.E. This Nicene Creed is now the benchmark used in choosing chaplains for the State schools in South Australia.
The gospel of Mark was the first and the other three in the New Testament are embellishments on Mark’s gospel. There are many other gospels besides these four.
Crazy fictional cult made up nonsense.!!!-
RB, why such hostility toward Christianity? Paul did not believe in and the Bible does not teach human sacrifice. True, Jesus gave himself up but he did so at the request of the Romans, his followers did not kill kill him on an altar. Paul also did not believe in gods but in God. Also, there is no evidence that Paul was struck by lightning. Just seems you are making a lot of assumptions. Can’t help but wonder why you have such animosity toward Christianity?
-
okay why don’t you go back and learn what the heck your talking about, your just whooplin and hollarin, you obviously dont know much boy and it shows. Get your facts striaight…..
-
RB: Tell me in the bible, (or anywhere else where Paul was struck by lightening, and I MEAN FACTS (ie. source, time period of source, details etc..)
and you really should think before you type:
“Responsibility for wrongdoing must remain forever with the person who committed the offence. Anything that seeks to sidestep this basic principle inflicts grievous harm on society.”
Are you stating that crimes, sins, offenses are TRIVIAL? Don’t think for one minute that who you may have hurt (emotionally or physically), whoever you may have lied to ( you’ve lied and you and I both know it) or whoever you dismissed as “less” of importance of yourself, is NOT going to be dealt with. You are a sinner, a criminal, whatever you want to call it. YOU ARE NOT PERFECT! That being said, you must accept the responsibility of what you’ve done in your life, NO MATTER how minute you may think it to be… PRACTICE WHAT YOU ‘PREACH”!
You think sidestepping the responsibility for wrong doing is harmful for society, right? Well, real Christians DO NOT “sidestep” by being forgiven for their sins, if anything, they learn how to truly imitate Christ. Contrary to what he media sells ( Priest raping boys, “Christians” bashing gays, etc) a TRUE follower of Christ strives to be as humble as possible, by laying down any pride they may hold onto. The TRUE Christian ethic is so radical in fact, that it can’t help but challenge ANY OTHER ETHIC SYSTEM, PERIOD!
I accept my sins, and still deal with them daily. But Christ died for me (and every other sinner) and by that, I am judged by God and Him alone. No human court system WILL EVER transcend God’s justice and law. EVER! Do you think that by sending murders to death the world is becoming a better place? Do you realize that without Christianity, the world would be FAR and BEYOND the evil that currently corrupts it? There would be NO morals, NO laws, NO justice, NO structure, basically, it would be complete and utter anarchy! It’s those Christian “liars” that pray for this world, it’s those “hypocrites” that reach out to those who otherwise would be (and are) condemned by your so-called “perfect” society. It’s those “freaks” that risk their very lives to spread the message of Jesus Christ, and salvation in His name.
Sure, go ahead and get rid of us Christians, see if that will stop the religion wars, see if that will stop the murderers, rapists, robbers… kill them all if have to. But I’m telling you, you will be so sorry you did.
True followers of Christ are out there. They love you, and you don’t even realize they pray for you. But you don’t care, you’d rather we not. Well, as a messenger of the Gospel, I’m here to tell you two very important things:
1. We Christians will NEVER stop praying for you and we will NEVER be silenced.
2. And Jesus Christ loves you, even if you deny it for the rest of your life, for if He didn’t, I wouldn’t have typed this reply… I pray you will examine yourself and admit your short-comings and realize that you DO need a Savior. That you ARE just as bad as the Priests who rape boys, or the mothers who drown their children. And if you deny that, well, I’ve said all I can say at this point…
The choice is ultimately up to you.
“When God finally judges the world, no one will be provided with or given the option of having a lawyer at their defense (for, the lawyer will be judged as well)… you WILL be silenced, and not allowed to plead your case or make up excuses; it will be too late for that. Jesus Christ will be the Judge, Jury and Executioner. The choice is yours so choose wisely.”
-
I would assume then that you are one of these that thinks we just miraculously arrived on the planet earth, or maybe we are the distant cousin of a monkey…this seems far more far fetched to me. It amazes me that someone with no faith in God, or his Son Jesus Christ, could “know” so much about our guiding Book and critisize it so. I pity those who have no room in their heart for faith, love and COMMON SENSE. I have yet to have anyone explain to me in a viable manner what the hell evolution is and how the hell it supposedly happened before but is no longer happenning. Or how if we really evolved from monkies, or apes or whatever, how they still exist, did “evolution” choose which should evolve and which should stay hairy and untelligent? At least My God has an explaination. I do not understand all of the bible by far, but I have faith in what I do understand, and I know that Christianity is based off love and acceptance. Those examples of “christians” that do not practice these things are a sad spectacle of what God did NOT intend. At least we have morals, rules to live by and NONE of them involve hurting others. Can’t say that for all religions. What code do those who don’t believe in God live by???
-
[This picture[Why Prayers Go Unanswered] is not really that good of art in the first place. Pushead who draws for Metallica, has more taste than this guy…]
Mary: Well spoken! A woman after God’s own heart…
Exactly, if we all “evolved” well, why are we still evolving? We aren’t, in fact, we’re regressing. Dying from more new diseases now than ever before (ie. AIDS)
Unbelievers like to quote this and that, but they fail to realize that it’s all just “robot talk”. It’s nonsensical at best. If they researched CREDIBLE sources (NOT WIKIPEDIA) they would find most if not all of their accusations as vain and without any credibility whatsoever.
Here is a WONDERFUL site for all my Christian brothers and sisters out there. But, let’s not limit to that, if anyone on here questions the existence of God, or any atheists want to know the TRUTH, than by all means, click on this link to “Reasonable Faith”. Dr. Craig, is respected by theists and atheists alike, and he is a doctor in philosophy and theology. Many of the lies that unbelievers post on here will be cleared up in a heartbeat… www. reasonablefaith.org

Shut the fuck up you god loving fag
-
unnecessary conduct…
are you really offended by someone who believes in a higher being, because i don’t see how that affects you negatively at all… -
Thank you! You proved my point to a TEE… Yes, I am God-loving and God-fearing. But I’m not sure about the being a God-loving cigarette. That’s just plain nonsensical of you… however, I will not shut up, not now, not ever… HAVE A GREAT DAY

First of all, God didn’t come to Earth Paul, Jesus did. Second, how do you know God didn’t die of AIDS?? You have just as much evidence of his existence!! And finally, learn how to use the caps lock.

Ancient Pagans as early as 600 BC believed in various levels of divinity, with miraculous powers, coming down and going up to its home in the sky. Divine beings cared about people, listened to and answered their prayers and gave them the power to prophesy. Even gave them a better deal in the eternal life that comes after death.
Christianity is a product of it’s time and place. Christianity is an ancient Pagan religion.
When Osiris is said to bring his believers eternal life in Egyptian Heaven, contemplating the unutterable, indescribable glory of God, we understand that as a myth.
When the sacred rites of Demeter at Eleusis are described as bringing believers happiness in their eternal life, we understand that as a myth.
In fact, when ancient writers tell us that in general ancient people believed in eternal life, with the good going to the Elysian Fields and the not so good going to Hades, we understand that as a myth.
When Vespatian’s spittle healed a blind man, we understand that as a myth.
When Apollonius of Tyana raised a girl from death, we understand that as a myth.
When the Pythia , the priestess at the Oracle at Delphi, in Greece, prophesied, and over and over again for a thousand years, the prophecies came true, we understand that as a myth.
When Dionysus turned water into wine, we understand that as a myth. When Dionysus believers are filled with atay, the Spirit of God, we understand that as a myth.
When Romulus is described as the Son of God, born of a virgin, we understand that as a myth.
When Alexander the Great is described as the Son of God, born of a mortal woman, we understand that as a myth.
When Augustus is described as the Son of God, born of a mortal , we understand that as a myth.
When Dionysus is described as the Son of God, born of a mortal woman, we understand that as a myth.
When Scipio Africanus is described as the Son of God, born of a mortal woman, we understand that as a myth.
So how come when Jesus is described as the Son of God,
born of a mortal woman,
according to prophecy,
turning water into wine,
raising girls from the dead, and
healing blind men with his spittle,
and setting it up so His believers got eternal life in Heaven contemplating the unutterable, indescribable glory of God, and off to Hades—er, I mean Hell—for the bad folks…how come that’s not a myth. And how come, in a culture with all those Sons of God, where miracles were science, where Heaven and Hell and God and eternal life and salvation were in the temples, in the philosophies, in the books, were dancing and howling in street festivals, how come we imagine Jesus and the stories about him developed all on their own, all by themselves, without picking up any of their stuff from the culture they sprang from, the culture full of the same sort of stuff?
It is a clear fact that ancient cultures around the Mediterranean, at LEAST 900 years before Jesus, shared standard ideas about Gods and their powers and place in the universe and Christianity simply adopted those ideas, and applied them to Jesus.-
RB: Do you really think all those Apostles, disciples and followers of Christ would just DIE for a lie? If you actually read the accounts of the torture they went thru, and yet, still would not deny the name of Jesus Christ, maybe you would re-consider the “FACT” that Jesus, the Son of God is a “myth”.
Let me ask you this: if someone had a gun to your head and told you to deny your UNBELIEF would you? Would you die for your UNBELIEF? Or would you lie and save your life… I think we both know the answer to that one. PROVE to me that all those martyrs for Christ were dying just to keep a “conspiracy” alive and well into the future… why do Christians STILL give their lives to this day in the name of Christ? Why would we waste our lives on a lie? Are we the one’s flying airplanes into buildings in the name of God??? Think about it…
Here’s your PROOF that Christians are still persecuted and dying everyday… just to keep the “myth” of Christ alive.
-
RB,
although pagan beliefs can be traced back to 600 b.c. ( which is ironic that you used b.c. but don’t acknowledge christ…) Judaism, which is the roots of Chrisatianity, is traced back further than that. Evidence of Abraham, the father of both Christianity and Judaism, AND Muslim, are in each society of that era, culture, and history.
The difficulty i find is that when it comes to humanity, i feel to optimistic about us all. The wars we fight, the tendency to enjoy violence, and the depravity of us in nature shows how true it really is.
I would advise you to read through the Gospels, with an open mind. It has become quite to common among Americans to open our mouths before enlightening our minds. If you want to make a scientific argument, use science; however understand the meaning, and definition of science. Science is the systematic knowledge of the physical or material world gained through observation and experimentation.
Knowing this, it is natural and material, on the other side, God is supernatural. These two do not argue against each other.
The issue then comes down to philosophy, which has become generally subjective due to the modern movements and post-modern movements.
I recognize that although there are arguments for and against Christianity, I choose to be a Christian because Jesus is good. His virtues are selfless ( though some may argue He was selfish). He does this quite abstract and complex thing called Love, that even now we don’t understand it’s extent. The reason I choose to be Christian is because it gives me hope, goals, and purpose. Rather than being just another factor in the circle of life. I think therefore I am, I am therefore i can choose. I choose Jesus because His acts, whether absolute or not is more than anyone i know has done for me. -
my challenge is this, find a church and attend (Quietly, I am you would not be disrespectul as i am sure your mother did not teach you to be rude or disrespectful) but really, go, listen, absorb. Find a great book store or library and read…I am quite sure you’ve researched thoughly the reasons why you should not believe, but give the other side the dignity of research as well. Throw yourself into it with an open mind. And at the end of that year, you may not understand all or any of it for that matter, but you will enevitably come out with an educated opinion knowing both sides of the argument. I dont think you are a bad person, I think that you are intelligent enough to have done some research and I would like to see you apply that to both sides of the argument. Good Luck and I truely hope that at some point in your life you do this…it will only make you a better person no matter how it turns out.

He is the Son of God. No other pure man has ever been sent here by God to perform the very miracles you speak of. NO MYTH.His vigin birth is real. His empty tomb is real. They are true . He is real and he didn’t die of AIDS. He died hanging on a rugged cross for our sins so that we may have eternal life in Heaven someday after this life is over. I know this from the readings of His word. His precious promises . I will be praying for you -
-
the above reply, to the listing of facts about pre-christian beliefs illustrates the problem.
you cannot make a rational argument with an irrational person. Such persons are damaged. Mr Patrick believes he has read the words of Jesus. But jesus did not speak english and mr Patrick does not read Aramaic. He has not even read the rest of the new testament or he might notice 2 accounts of the resurrection, not just the empty tomb. contemporary accounts tell us that It takes more than an afternoon to die on the cross. he prays because it is the psychological equivalent of sticking ones fingers in ones ears and going LALALALALAL . There is little hope for those so Infected.-
Thank God I’m infected with the same disease.
We’re in a seemingly polarized culture. So, sometimes it feels right/good/just (you pick the word that makes the most sense) for me to attack thoughts that are different than my own.
I believe in one, true, living God who exists in three Persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. That He gave His only begotten Son Jesus Christ, who was born of a virgin, to come to earth and provide a testimony of His boundless love, mercy, justice, and faithfulness (among a whole lot of other things). I believe that Jesus lived a perfect life, and in Him there is no sin. That He was innocent of any crime, and was executed on a cross, put in a tomb, and rose from the dead approximately three days later. I believe that when He rose from the dead, He was in a bodily form, and that He was partially fulfilling what He had promised when He said to His disciples, “No one takes [My life] from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.” (John 10:18; NKJV) And, I believe that Jesus ascended into Heaven, in bodily form, and even now sits in position of highest authority conceivable (in that He is the human manifestation of Almighty God).
Also, I believe that one day Jesus will return to Earth and that all people will be resurrected from the dead. On that day, Jesus will bring those people who desired to be His onto Himself – giving them eternal life, and refuse all others – essentially leaving them in eternal death. I believe that the Holy Bible is His word, passed down by prophets, elders, teachers, and apostles who were influenced by His Holy Spirit in their lives. On that, I believe that the Bible is infallible and is useful for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.
Okay – so here’s the bit. What I’ve shared about my beliefs is not exhaustive – it doesn’t cover all that I believe about God. But, I hope you get an idea of the basics. I know many people think that I’m delusional to believe this stuff – and I’m okay with that. Many people have many beliefs – I happen to believe mine are correct (or I wouldn’t believe them) – but that shouldn’t stop us from sharing them with each other. The time for attack and polarity is over. We Christians need to stop being so defensive, and we need to pay respect to the people who do not share our beliefs. What they say just might shape our world.
May God bless you all.
-
You sound like a robot repeating words that your cult told you to say if someone offends you. “I believe…( in robot voice and all)
-
and you sound like a child Kyle. “you sound like a robot” really is that all you can say? You sound ignorant and blind, do you think that would really hurt Paul’s feelings? This is why the world is as it is, a bunch of ignorant, ungrateful people running around who do not want to believe in anything because that would been they would have to care about something other than themselves.
-
Hey Kyle -
I’d love to sit down over a couple of cold ones and some great steaks and hear about how you see things.
The “I believe…” formula is just that – a writing style. I chose a credal approach instead of a rhetorical one, just because I thought it would be helpful to clarity.
Take care of yourself.
-
Amen! Take heart my friend, your faith has made you well indeed
-
-
Hey Jack, i hope you get infected as i am, but if not say hi to hitler for me!

I agree with Patrick, God did not die of AIDS nor did His son whom He sent to this earth to wash away our sins. I’ll live my life believing in God and His miracles and praying and telling others about Him. If someone else chooses not to, then that is their own will. I do not force my beliefs on anyone and wish the same respect given to me. I find it interesting that so many can believe there is no God, but still use His images to garner acknowledgment of their work. Unfortunately there are irrational people on both sides of the religious fence, but you can keep your religion (whatever it may be) in your heart and I will keep mine in my heart. In the end, when death comes to us all… the truth will certainly set us free.
-
Yes, this is horrible. But it is also indicative of a person who refuses to take responsibility for their own sin and blames everyone else for their sickness and dis-ease.
All throughout the WORD of GOD, there are prohibitions set up for the safety and benefit of humanity because of GOD’s Love for what HE made in HIS Image and Likeness. aids is the result of immoral living that spilled over into a permissive and overly sympathetic general population.
The GOD WHO loves us also allows us to choose to live a life that is free from guilt, fear and shame. Don’t blame HIM for your bad choices.
Take responsibility and stop being a victim. -
Im all for freedom of expression and im not religious, but this is a little too far. I don’t see a lot of integrity behind these pieces, I mean, I see the relevance in this one in particular but it’s sort of redundant, most of these works really don’t convey anything. This looks like an artist fueling controversy blindly to compensate for a lack of certain basic abilities, like drawing…

I believe in minimalism but there needs to be an element of design to that, down to it’s fine details, which I only feel a hint of in a few of these but is otherwise, a little weak…
I like the work of people like Andres Serrano where ALONG with controversial subject matter he handles his work with a delicate eye toward aesthetics, elusive subject matter and creative representations. I’ve never felt the need to actually write a comment on these things, but this just seems like tacky art to me.
A little intense, but that’s just my opinion.sorry Barry,
but don’t listen to me, subjectively, this is clearly genuine art...fire away.
-
sorry didn’t see reply here, see my comments below
and I’m not demeaning photographers either

Most artist have something mentally wrong with them, we have had in the past some of the most talented men, yet they were ailed with wicked mental problems. This painting shows deep signs of a troubled person, I tell you if a high school kid were to have drawn this he would be getting prescribed medication just about know. Prayers Go unanswered not because God died of AIDS, who says prayers arnt being answered. Look at how many people do not believe in God, they obviously do not pray, So how can you say your prayers are not answered if you do not even believe. So many of you have your facts mixed up from whats in the bible to what has been PROVEN by science. It’s sad to see to what shit our world has fallen to, but as you can tell its the unbelivers who out number the believers, and then you wonder why our world is in the condition it’s in. Believe what you may, I’d rather believe and die to find out its not real, then live a non believer and die to find out it is real. So i ask you people where will you spend eternity?
See you on the Judgment day, May God help all of you….. -
Religious people crack me up. So self-righteous about a fairy tale. I suppose it helps them rationalize their life or at least helps them sleep at night.
-
Unbelievers make me sad. It’s so depressing that you really think your $hit doesn’t stink. Fairy tale you say, I say it’s your PRIDE. Your so prideful in fact, you are just going to put your fingers in your ears, and dismiss this whole comment. Look up at the night sky, research on how the universe is not just some mere accident. It functions way too systematically for it to be created by mere “chance”. ( Chance by the way, is not a being, therefore “chance” has not the ability to create anything)
If you actually looked around, and laid down your pride for a minute, you’d come to the realization that there is a God. The very fact that our planet teeters are a very razor thin line for us to exist, should speak for itself. Do you really think that you evolved from “Bubbles the Chimp”? The so-called fossil records are incomplete, and never will be completed. Why? Because they are a FAIRY TALE of how humans came to be. Real anthropologists will tell you that time and time again. There simply is not enough evidence to back up evolutionists claims. And there never will be.
Enjoy your life while it lasts. Every second, 2 people in the world die. Just think about that and how “lucky” you and I are to be alive at this moment. But one day, we both will fall into that same category called DEATH. And if you think death is the end, I’m sorry, but you are wrong.
Like all the “religious freaks” on here, I’ll be praying for you and every single atheist on here. See, I used to be one too. But someone prayed for me constantly. That someone was my Mom. That’s called love of a TRUE Christian. We love, because He loved us first. Godspeed my friend…
-
-
actually i have problems sleeping at night… but thanks for the kind thought
-
Finally, someone who actually gave a relevent COMMENT on the painting, way to go PARTYALLTHETIME – - and I must say, I do agree with you.
-
relevant*
-
-
PARTYALLTHETIME,
Andes Serrano takes photographs, and by most photography standards he is not very good at it. A lot of his pieces are very corny like the nun masturbating. I cannot imagine someone choosing his work over this painting. I’m just one of those people that doesn’t believe photography is art. this stuff is very different from anything i’ve seen before, i see some Francis Bacon influence. new ideas in art are always hard to accept, but like you said, art is subjective!
MOON MAN
-
aaahh excuse me~~~~~~~ do most of you people on this post really believe
there is some god watching us like little pets and that we all go to “heaven or hell”?
wow! scarry!-
do you believe that this all really happened for no reason, that we can talk about this by pure chance there is no reason for life, but to just go on… that is more boggling than a being higher than each of us
-
-
I think the point of this Painting is more the lack of God idealized morality in society, for instance things like Aids that could be solved with Honesty and concern for other man and our self being. Aids would no longer be an issue if all man were to treat sex in a different manner, to aid countries that lack the resources to prevent it in transfusions and educate them about it.
-
OK Christian religion is a joke. I’m tired of everyone making a mockery of things they don’t understand but the bible is full of convoluted ideas of salvation and stuff from a book with so many contradictions it is not even funny yet so many choose to believe and choose to make a mockery of those that don’t for a religion that does not judge most all members of Christianity do. Btw bible + stories handed down from generation to generation which is fact stories can be told to benefit the teller i.e. history is written by the winners. I do not know how we came but evolution is not a myth it is very logical animals grow hair in the winter and lose it in the summer simple basic evolution they evolve to survive. humanity is a disease that is ruining this world hate is retarded whats the point of it. Have your own beliefs and leave everyone else to there’s who cares what offends you that is not important why does everything in the world have to be about religion or ashiest just grow up believe what you want to and stop arguing and judging others. Btw that was for everyone religion or not. Thank you and have a nice day
-
WOW….really??
Get a grip people. Art is a form of expression…climb out of the confines of religion and experience life.
-
GOOD art is a form of expression. This is a form of Depression, and is NOT good art at all. As a father myself, disgusts me how it depicts the wonderful miracle of birth; this expression of “art” expresses only one thing: death. It is inhumane, nonsensical, offensive and evil. this is the very reason this world is headed for much, much worse things. We take comfort in and adore death, destruction, pain, misery and suffering… This looks more like a tribute to abortion, than to the life and beauty that God desires for us all…
Would love to consider what you call “life”. By the way, “heart worship” leads to God, and religion leads to Hell. That being said, Christ is NOT just a religion… He IS my life. I am not confined, as you would put it. In fact, I am more free now that I was when I was “experiencing life”. That life was NOT fulfilling, in any way shape or form, simply because Christ was not in my life. Did I have fun? Sure, many good memories… but memories fade away and people die. But those who trust in Christ shall live forever… well, so will those who don’t, but they will wish that they hadn’t lived forever.
Is it any wonder that we humans crave our beauty and strive for immortality? Why is that, hmmmm? Could it be that the One who created us in His image, is, well, immortal Himself? That would make total sense… can’t say the same about those “humanoids” , “apes” and “ape-like” ANIMALS.
I have a challenge for you: Climb out of the confines of your life, and experience eternity… you are in my prayers.

This art work is all about one thing: Shock Value, pure and simple. Art is very subjective, but this individual is trying to bank on shock value. How very 9th grade of you.

i agree this does seem like it goes along with horror films, grand theft auto, and other chains of outrageous media.
Shocking as it is, there can be some things behind it.
although i would like to see if someone could find a quote from Roberts himself
-
-
Let me ask this, does anyone believe this artist is so talented that if he didn’t deficate on all things holy, that he would be this popluar? He rides solely on shock value.
My best guess would be that he has pint up anger issues. Could be your average, white male, homosexual, with aids and he is mad at God – because He would allow this to happen.
God, loves us so much that if we kick and scream because we want to go to Hell, He will let us. He didn’t make robots, He created beings and gave them free choice and free will to do what they want. Second, things happen on this earth because of those free choices that humans have. Third, this is not the end, therfore – death, whenever it may come, isn’t the end . You will live for eternity . You just have the opportunity to choose where that will be… right now.

It is a matter of no small curiosity to me that the obscure, rambling non-sequiturs of a bronze age desert tribe (whose only claim to fame is that they managed to record some of their disjointed thoughts) should command the attention of anyone but scholars of antique literature. And yet, supposedly rational and well-educated folk continue to overpraise the bible’s homely advice on getting along with each other and to swallow whole its second millenium BCE explanation of the universe. It is a conundrum.
“Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false and by the rulers as useful”. Seneca, Roman orator and historian, c.37 B.C.
